M Train + Bourbon Coffee
Dudes… this one. “M Train” by Patti Smith is a wandering trip that flows and meanders you into her reflective spaces, day-in and day-out ruminations, special objects, and creative processes. Smith is such a complex internal soul and this story just reverberates life, death, deep thought, and coffee… lots and lots of coffee. Actually, an ungodly amount of coffee. I don’t think I have ever wanted to live life like anyone else until now.
M-Train isn’t a conventional book by any means and the lack of a traditional plot is rooted by a few repetitive actions; one of them being coffee consumption. Truth be told, I get the impression that Patti Smith lives the stuff. She is the basic black coffee consumer of the cheap NYC Korean deli variety. And, honestly, if there was a coffee cocktail that would be M-Train, it would be a cup of straight black coffee with some whiskey dumped in… probably in a styrofoam takeaway cup, if New York even had those anymore. Think Irish Coffee from a convenience store. But, try this classed up version
