I don’t really know what took me so long to read this hot mess, but I am so glad I did. I spent a lot time a bit lost in the world of Kafka Tamura, a boy who has run away from home to either escape an impending oedipal prophecy laid on him by his dad or to try to find his long lost mother and sister… still not totally sure which. There are talking cats, simple elderly men, intense memory loss, other worlds, transgendered people, and characters named “Johnny Walker” and “Colonel Sanders.” Total Win.

The booze match is a little bit child-like, a little bit complicated, and a big scream for your mum and sister.

• Add Whip Cream and Graham Crackers
