The Girls + Ink Me Drink Me
"The Girls" by Emma Cline
Evie Boyd’s home life was a hot mess. She wanted to fit in. She wanted to feel socially accepted. She wanted to be liked. So, she took a chance and worked to get close to a super-cool, hippie looking rebel chick named Suzanne. But, Evie doesn’t realize how close she is to a cult, personal destruction, and major violence. She barrels toward ruin with the unknowing innocence of a young girl on the edge of womanhood.
Initially, this booze suggestion I jumped right to was a big ole’ jug of cheap wine. Easy to find for any under-age drinker, but then I realized I don’t want to drink that swill. Plus, I spotted “Ink Me, Drink Me” and was sucked into the swirl of dark deception and need… much like "The Girls." Drink up boys and girls, and fall into a swirling mess innocence lost and Manson family values.
